It seems that the new scheme will generate another scam in Haryana. Official machinery in horticulture and allied are perhaps misguiding the concerned bosses. No doubt, if implemented honestly (which is rare), it may give some relief, so far as shortage of onion is concerned but it would have been better if the decision would have been taken a little earlier i.e. during October/November, before sowing of other rabi crops (mainly wheat) or so with offer of some subsidy to the onion cultivating firming community.
It is not wrong to say that horticulture department has failed in increasing the area of fruits or vegetables in the State in reality. Some of the farmers trying and struggling in organic farming have no support of the concerned government officials and unfortunately most of them are bound to sell their organic produce at throughaway prices.
